Cloisters Residents Mark Marital Milestones With Home Celebrations

It’s been a year of love for Residents at Cloisters Care Home as three couples celebrated special wedding anniversaries.

In the Spring, Residents Eric and Kathleen clocked up an incredible 66 years of marriage.

The happy couple were thrilled to find the Home decorated with bunting to celebrate their special anniversary.

They were also delighted to receive a personalised card from their fellow Residents and Staff.

Activities Co-ordinator Simon said that the couple is a fantastic example of true love.

Simon said: “Eric and Kathleen are a wonderful couple, and it was a privilege to be with them as they reached 66 years of marriage.

“Every day, they sit and hold hands together, which is just beautiful. They are a shining example of a love that lasts forever.”

Elsewhere at the Home, Resident Patrick and his wife Mary reached their 68th anniversary.

Although she remains in their marital home, Mary drops in every other day for a visit and to bring her husband homemade Greek food and his favourite snacks.

To celebrate, Patrick and Mary were joined by their daughter Poppy and Activities Co-ordinator Simon, who’d decorated the room in their honour.

Simon said: “It was a very special day full of joy and happiness.

“Patrick and Mary are another beautiful example of love and devotion. It’s heart-warming to see how much effort Mary puts into brightening her husband’s days with her visits and food.

“It’s truly touching to witness their unbreakable bond.”

There was excitement in July when Sohan and his wife Pritpal celebrated their emerald wedding anniversary.

His fellow Residents helped to create the bunting and decorations for a big family celebration.

On the day itself, there was a party with traditional Punjabi music, food, and snacks.

Simon added: “What a way to celebrate an emerald wedding anniversary!

“The atmosphere was terrific, as was the food and dancing.

“Sohan is 80, and he still loves to dance up a storm. It was a joyous occasion that we all thoroughly enjoyed.”
