Person-centred care

We take great pride in ensuring that all Residents have a personalised care plan that takes into account both their care needs and lifestyle wishes. We keep care plans regularly updated, either at formal reviews whenever care needs change. We always involve families when possible and ensure that everyone is happy with the level of care provided.

We have good links with local GP practices, and Colleagues are happy to arrange appointments with other practitioners, such as occupational therapists, chiropodists and dentists.

Living life to the full

We encourage Residents to continue to do the things they love, whether it is a hobby such as painting or bowls, or simply shopping – we will do everything we can to make that possible. We also have a busy activity programme and particular favourites are the reminiscence classes, craft and gardening clubs, quizzes, movie afternoons, musical sessions and concerts.

Residents can also get a fresh look and pampering at our in-home hair salon whenever they choose. Or if they prefer a quieter afternoon, then relaxing in our beautifully landscaped gardens offers a lovely retreat from the bustle of everyday life.

Dining and nutrition

A healthy diet is crucial for wellbeing and at Rutherglen our creative team of chefs provide an extensive seasonal and varied menu. As well as encouraging Residents to make suggestions via questionnaires, our regular themed meals are hugely popular. Whether it is a Haggis on Burns’ night or hot cross buns at Easter, there is always a chance to celebrate, not to mention birthday parties when every Resident receives a delicious home-baked cake.

The B Happie Mission

The B Happie Mission

Our mission to promote happy residents and happy staff is underlined by our groundbreaking ‘B Happie Charter’. We achieve these values by conducting person centred activities and events with a whole home approach, by recognising and appreciating the amazing work that our teams do and by prioritising mental health and wellness.

A message from our Manager

Iain Ballantyne

“It’s my great pleasure to be the home manager at Rutherglen. I’m a registered nurse (RMN) and have been in care settings since 1991 and been a care home manager for the past 20 years.

I’ve got 3 grown up daughters, a dog called Peebles and a cat named Daisy. I bring a wealth of experience to the home. Feel free to pop in and say hello or stop for a chat.”
