Rutherglen Care Home Residents Celebrate Halloween with DIY Decorations, Spooky Bingo, and Witchy Entertainment
11 November 2024
Residents at Rutherglen Care Home weren’t spooked as they took on the task of making their own decorations for Halloween.
They carefully cut out bats, ghosts and pumpkins to craft the decorations a couple of days before, which were then hung around the lounges to set the tone for a stylish and happy Halloween at Rodger Drive.
There was also a special Halloween bingo held in the clubhouse with players searching for spooky icons instead of numbers.
On the morning of Halloween residents went dookin’ for apples, which caused lots of hilarity and jokes about dropping false teeth!
Then in the afternoon a Halloween party was held, with entertainment provided by singer Suzie G who was dressed as a witch, and performed a variety of popular hit songs from the 50s through to the 70s, as well as a few country and western numbers.
Residents, families and staff had loads of fun, singing and dancing. They also had some refreshing witches brew and goodies from the trick or treat bowl.
Jan Morgan, family member resident, said: “It was so good to see mum enjoying herself. Everyone had a great time”.
Maureen Thomson, activity coordinator at Rutherglen Care Home added: “It was a fantastic, uplifting afternoon. So good to see everyone enjoy themselves, and it makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
