Rutherglen Care Home’s Summer Fete a Resounding Success

Rutherglen Care Home transformed its car park into a bustling hub of activity for its annual Summer Fete on Saturday, June 29th. The event drew an impressive turnout, featuring appearances from the Police Scotland Mounted Branch, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the lively Boogie Box Jive dancers.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of attractions, with Trishaw rides through the scenic Grow73 community garden and Overton Park offering a unique highlight. The bottle tombola and raffle stalls garnered significant attention, while the pop-up café served up a delightful array of hot dogs, burgers, rolls with bacon or sausage, and a selection of teas and coffees.
Entertainment was at its peak with the fabulous Boogie Box Jive team, who delivered a nostalgic 1950s program that had everyone dancing, including the Police horses, much to the crowd’s amazement. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service brought along a fire engine, delighting both children and adults with the opportunity to use the fire hose. Adding to the fun, one fireman even gave a playful fireman’s lift, responding to an enthusiastic request from the crowd.Resident Drew Thomson, 93, remarked, “A great afternoon, loved the dancers.” Activity coordinator Rachel MacNeil shared her satisfaction, saying, “It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves, making all the hard work worthwhile.”

The event successfully brought together residents, families, friends, and local community members, ensuring a good time was had by all and reinforcing the strong community spirit that Rutherglen Care Home cherishes.
